Took a B2B SaaS platform to first-position visibility inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overview, while qualified leads grew 60% year over year.
Buyers had started asking assistants instead of searching. A category page that ranked third on Google could be invisible in an AI answer, and nobody on the team could see that happening because no tool reported it.
The pipeline problem underneath was ordinary: leads were coming in, but too few of them looked like the ideal customer, and the ones who converted were churning faster than the model assumed.
First-position organic and AI-search visibility in the category across all four answer surfaces. Qualified leads up 60% year over year, ICP leads up 95%, LTV/CAC held above 5, churn down from 3.5% to 2.7%.
Answer-engine visibility measured in Profound for the week of 8 to 15 October 2025, against a tracked prompt set of community-platform queries: the head term, its long-tail variations, and the competitor and alternatives questions buyers actually type. Profound scores all of it against the community management software category. Both numbers are here, not only the flattering one.
This is category visibility, not the whole internet. The prompt set is community-platform queries and their variations, so first place means first among community management software brands for the questions a buyer in that market asks. That is the number worth having, and it is also the number worth stating precisely.
Being cited most often is also not the same as being cited first. Bettermode led on how often it showed up and sat seventh on where it showed up inside the answer. Frequency is the thing I moved, and it compounds, because an engine that never mentions you cannot rank you at all. Position is the harder, slower half and it was still open when I left. Anyone quoting a single answer-engine number at you is picking whichever one flatters them.

Ranking first and being cited are different jobs. Optimising a page to rank will not get it quoted, because a model is looking for an extractable, self-contained claim it can attribute. That distinction was worth more than any keyword decision I made that year.
Two years before Bettermode I had built a gated B2B community platform from scratch, for wholesale jewellery buyers. I had been the customer for this category before I was the marketer of it, so I did not have to learn what a community platform is for, or why a trade audience logs into one.
